Quarantine

March to ????, 2020 (who knows when this will end!)

Today is May 24th and we have been under a "Stay at Home" order for over two months. This whole thing seems like something out of a movie and I can't believe how abruptly our lives were completely changed. I have been off work since March 13th and have only left the house a handful of times to go pick things up at work. We go on frequent walks around town but other than that, the girls and I have been stuck at home. Josh started to be off work just shortly after me so the whole family has been home together. I will admit that mostly, the extra family time has been amazing. I love being able to have a calm morning and not have to rush out to get the girls to daycare. Although I wish terribly for things to go back to normal, there have been so many amazing memories made and I am so grateful for that! Here is just a sampling of the fun we have been having around home.

Adrienne has the best bed head

They love this little toy!

Piano time

Slime and Play-Doh have provided hours of fun

Dress up has been another popular activity.

We have really appreciated our backyard throughout all of this, and the play structure. We aren't allowed to go to parks or playgrounds so our backyard has gotten a lot of use.

Bedtime story by Adrienne

Adrienne loves to help out with dinner.

I love to watch Adrienne draw people.

Easter was in the midst of all of this too. We spent Easter at home with no visitors.
Adrienne was only allowed to dye a few eggs. We are limiting our grocery trips due to the quarantine and eggs are a hot commodity!

Cecilia painted an egg.

Adrienne is a great Mommy

Cecilia loves to yell "Bad Guy" when she sees a villain on TV. She also loves to be the bad guy when playing.

I brought home my MagnaTiles from school and both of the girls love building with them. We are definitely going to have to buy some to stay at home permanently.

Fun with Daddy

They can be really sweet together.

Adrienne "decorated" the house for a pretend party. I guess the effects of seeing absolutely no one for two months is starting to wear on her.

This was a long post! So many sweet moments. Hopefully next time we will have some moments with extended family to share!

Adrienne Turns 4!

February 2020

We celebrated Adrienne's fourth birthday! While laying in bed with her the week before she turned 4 I told her that 4-year-olds can fall asleep on their own. She quickly said "I'm not 4 yet, I'm still 3!". Other than the falling asleep on her own thing, she is very happy to be a 4-year-old now. Her birthday was Frozen themed and both of the girls have been obsessed with Frozen for several months now. Cecilia likes to sing and dance to "Let it Go" and Adrienne keeps asking when we are going to see Frozen 3. Had to break it to her that it doesn't exist.  It was a great day! Thanks to everyone who was able to attend and make it a special day for Adrienne!

This is a video of when Adrienne first woke up and saw her birthday party decorations.

One Happy Girl!

Bruce enjoyed the festivities too.

Some of Adrienne's cousins (and Cecilia, who was not excited to be in the picture)

We played "Pin the Nose on Olaf"

Cecilia wanted in on the fun too.

Singing "Happy Birthday"

Next day family pic. We forgot to take one during the party!

One of Adrienne's favorite gifts was a Frozen sensory bin. She calls it her "Frozen Creations".

Another favorite gift. Frozen Little People set. Cecilia is equally as excited about this one too.

What a perfect day for a perfect little girl!

Thanksgiving and Christmas 2019

December 2019

Adrienne and Cecilia had their first Thanksgiving project. For daycare, they had to make a turkey showing things they are thankful for. They may have had a little help from mom😉

Decorating the tree

Adrienne and I went and saw the Thanksgiving parade in Lansing. We were able to stay warm in Aunt Emily's office.

Cecilia was not thrilled about meeting Santa this year.

But she enjoyed snuggling Mom and Dad

Adrienne enjoys playing school. She knows to start the day with The Pledge of Allegiance

Adrienne saw her first movie. It was Frozen 2.

Adrienne wanted Calico Critters this year from Santa.

These girls can never get enough dancing!

Christmas Eve

Christmas morning. These dolls were probably her favorite present this year.

We had an amazing Christmas! It was so fun watching Adrienne as she now understands the excitement of Christmas. I can't wait until they both have a love for Christmas!

Fall 2019

Fall flew by! Here are some highlights and moments to remember.

Cecilia is a pro at walking. She also loves to pretend to talk on the telephone.

Adrienne narrating a pretty amazing lightning storm

Fun up north

We have continued to go to the museum occasionally since we bought a membership. Cecilia still says "What's that?" all the time.

These girls have become OBSESSED with dancing. It is a daily event in our home.

Adrienne was practicing some new dance moves and wanted me to leave the room.

I found out the new dance moves were just shaking her behind ðŸ˜‚

Adrienne spells her name with the help of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"

We found a tomato worm in our tomato bush. Adrienne named him "Wormy" and we released him down at the park.

Our only campfire of the year. Cecilia was already in bed.

Cecilia loves to climb on chairs. She always looks at us with a mischievous grin when she is on top of a chair.

Adrienne and Cecilia having a jumping contest

Adrienne has gotten pretty into painting.

Riding her bike

Adrienne has a "Silly Pumpkin Face" that she likes to make.

Adrienne and I went trick or treating the weekend before Halloween at all of the downtown stores. I am glad we did because on actual Halloween we had a mix of rain and snow! We ended up spending that night trick or treating at the mall, which we will NEVER do again. I think everyone in the Okemos area had the same idea that night!

At the mall on Halloween

They had a party at daycare too

Cecilia was not a fan of her ladybug costume

She preferred helping Daddy with his costume :) This was as we got ready for a Halloween birthday party for Kevin.

Adrienne likes that the song "Adrienne" by The Calling says her name 😊

Bedtime stories with Adrienne. She is getting pretty creative with these!
Every fall needs a day in the leaves!

Happy Fall!
