Five Months Old

Adrienne is five months old tomorrow!

WHAT'S NEW?
  • Adrienne had her first laughs a few weeks ago.  I was the only one to witness them and unfortunately she hasn't done it again since.  I was able to get them on video though!

  • Adrienne has been hard at work learning to roll over.  So far, on her own she has been occasionally rolling from front to back.  We can tell that she is working really hard to try to roll the other way but just can't seem to get all the way around.  Here she is working on it in her crib.

  • Adrienne officially sleeps full time in the crib now.  We also moved her out of the swaddle.  She had a hard time being swaddle free so she now sleeps in a zipadee zip (who knew there were so many sleeping options/products for babies!).  We think she looks like a little starfish in her zippy :)

  • Adrienne has been pretty obsessed with Bruce lately.  She likes to reach out for him when he walks by and LOVES to pet him.  We can tell we are going to have to work on teaching her how to be gentle with him as she discovers how to pet him more.  He has been a very good boy and enjoys smelling her and trying to lick her.

  • Adrienne went to her first Howell BalloonFest.  We hope that this will be a yearly tradition for our family.  She went once with just me but had a bit of a meltdown before the balloons launched.  The second night she went with everyone including Grandma and Boppa.  She spent most of the balloon launch nursing though:)  Can't wait until next year when she can really see the balloons!

  • Adrienne has been making lots of new noises this month.  She likes to make a high pitch squeal and she growls all the time.

  • Adrienne went "swimming" for the first time in a kiddie pool at Grandma and Boppa's house.  She has really been into splashing in the bath tub lately too.  I think she is going to be a water lover!

  • And of course, because we can never have too many pictures of this cute girl:).......

  • We love this "Bruce" shirt that we got at Adrienne's baby shower.

    Having fun on snapchat

She still adores her play mat.

Practicing tummy time in the crib

    She loves her Daddy

She got a high chair.  She is only practicing sitting in it now though, no solids yet.

We went to visit Daddy at his work!

She loves to stare at this quilt that Auntie Amy made.

    First time in the bouncer.

    Enjoying time with Papa Marc

    Playing "peek-a-boo"

Josh has the magic touch.  He can always get her to fall asleep in his arms.

She is really into hugging and feeling her burp cloths.  We are going to try to get her to adopt a lovey soon.

She enjoys chewing on the beads from Auntie Sarah and Uncle Jordon!  We call them her Cinderella beads.

    Spending time with Auntie Maggie

This is why this girl wears a bib all the time:)

This is definitely Adrienne's favorite toy.  Watch until the end of the video to see how impressed Bruce is:)

    Four Months Old

    Sunday, June 19th, 2016

Summer is finally here and we are celebrating Father's Day and Adrienne turning 4 months old today!

    WHAT DOES ADRIENNE LIKE?
Adrienne is becoming more aware of the world around her.  She has started to be really interested in her toys and tries to fit anything she can grab into her mouth.  She still likes looking at the pictures we have hanging on the walls and is becoming more interested in books.  She has been enjoying Chicka Chicka Boom Boom a lot!  She still is a happy girl during bath time and has started to kick in her tub.  She hasn't quite discovered splashing yet but I am sure both Adrienne AND Mommy will need a towel after bath time soon:)

    WHAT DOES ADRIENNE DISLIKE?
Most of the time Adrienne is a pretty happy baby. One thing that seems to upset her is when we have to wipe her mouth.  Since she spits up many times throughout the day, she unfortunately needs lots of wiping!

    HOW IS ADRIENNE SLEEPING?
Adrienne had a good stretch of sleeping about a month ago, but has now gone back to waking up every 3-4 hours.  Luckily, I am now on summer vacation so I don't mind the lack of sleep quite as much.  We are working on the transition into the crib right now.  Don't let the pictures below fool you though.  Each time we get her to sleep in the crib it only lasts about 20 minutes.  Hopefully in her five month update we can say that we made it into the crib full time!  (By the way, these pictures are from naps.  Adrienne isn't allowed pillows/blankets in her crib at bedtime)

    HOW IS ADRIENNE EATING?
Adrienne is a great eater.  She has her four month doctor appointment on Tuesday and we are very curious to see how much she weighs now.  (I'll put an update on her weight HERE: 12 lbs 14 oz. She moved up to the 25 percentile! after we go to the appointment).  She is still only eating (drinking?) breastmilk and we plan to continue that until she is 6 months old and can start with solids.

    HOW DOES ADRIENNE PLAY?
I had a teaching conference to attend last week in Grand Rapids, so Adrienne was able to spend 3 days with her Aunt Amy and cousins, Annie Lou and Sam (Thank you so much!).  Adrienne had a blast watching her busy cousins and was all smiles.  It was amazing how much she learned to do in just three days.  She mastered the exersaucer and started making new sounds with her lips.  She changes so much every day now!

    PICTURES FROM ADRIENNE'S FOURTH MONTH

We visited Aunt Sarah at her new house in Rockford.  Pretty soon, cousin Henry will be here!

Bruce is getting more and more curious about Adrienne

First time touching the grass (she is all about having her hands in her mouth right now)

    All smiles

    Visiting with Grandpa

Adrienne has been spending a lot more time in her carrier.  It's her favorite place to nap :) zzzz

She loves to use her legs.

    Uncle Matt is a natural!

Trying to get pictures of her in all of her adorable outfits before she outgrows them!

    We love that smile:)

    Aren't baby sounds the best?

    Three Months Old

I'm back to work now and finding time to write this update is a bit more difficult than it was when I was home full-time.  Better updates to come this summer (Three more weeks...the countdown has begun!).  Enjoy ❤️

    -Laura

Adrienne has started to notice Bruce more and more each day.  She likes to stare at him when he is wrestling with Josh.  Bruce is still adjusting to life with a baby in the house.  We keep telling him it will be much more fun for him when she starts dropping food!

Still loving the Moby wrap.  She has mixed feelings about her pacifiers right now.

She discovered how to smack her lips.

This picture was taken right after Adrienne's first trip to the Howell Farmer's Market. We will spend many Sundays there with her this summer.

    Tummy time is improving!

Chris and Sam stopped by for a visit.  They also brought amazingly generous gifts from The "VanderHowelios".

Adrienne has rolled front to back several times.

Adrienne received this super adorable personalized hat and blanket from the Sullivan Family.  We love it so much!

Adrienne does great in the car.  Usually she falls asleep within 5 minutes.

A gift from Frank and Terri.  Love the cape!

Adrienne is still loving bath time.  She is so calm in the bath that she almost has fallen asleep in there!

Josh sends me daily picture updates while I'm at work.  They always bring a smile to my face:)

Adrienne still sleeps in her "Rock n Play".  We tried moving her to the crib and she only lasted an hour before freaking out.  We will definitely get her transitioned this summer, but for now, Mama needs sleep too! :)  She usually wakes up with a big smile!

Bottle feeding during the day has been going very smoothly.  She has no trouble going back and forth between having Mom feed her and having Dad give her the bottle.

We have finally been able to get her in some of her cute 3 month outfits.  Love this little sweatshirt jacket.

Our hearts are so full of love for this little girl!
