Rehearsal

Friday, August 1, 2014

Wedding weekend is finally here!  We had our rehearsal today followed up with a dinner at Lakeside Charlie's.  I think the most memorable moment of the rehearsal was Bruce chasing Sam (I suppose it would be quite scary to see an animal over twice your size running full speed after you). He recovered quickly though and enjoyed playing in the minature garden with Annie Lou.  We are ready for the big day!

Leask Family Reunion

Sunday, July 20, 2014

We had a wonderful weekend up in Alpena at the Leask Family Reunion.  It was so great to see everyone and to enjoy some time on Long Lake.  Bruce spent the entire weekend having a blast with the kids and eating numerous table scraps (we caught him with an entire venison sausage!).

Before leaving Alpena we had to make a stop at Rockport State Park.  Josh said he could have stayed there for hours looking for fossils and enjoying the scenery. It was beautiful!  Til next time!

Fourth of July

Happy Fourth of July from Higgins Lake!

"I believe that we will win!"

Wednesday, July 2, 2014

Well, Josh's new USA scarf was not enough good luck to help the USA soccer team win against Belgium.  Neither was his refusal to eat Belgium waffles that morning.  We will bring the scarf out at the next World Cup, or maybe the Olympics!  As corny as it sounds, I love that we now get to start making traditions as a family :).   Oh, and did I mention there is only one month until the wedding?!

Wedding Shower

Sunday, June 22, 2014

We had the perfect day today for a wedding shower.  Hopefully we have as beautiful of a day on the actually wedding day too!  Friends and family gathered to celebrate and it was so lovely so see everyone.  We are lucky to have so many loving and supportive people in our lives!

Nerdageddon

Thursday, June 5, 2014

We are being eaten alive!  I cannot remember a spring with this many mosquitos.  Not only are they all over outside, but they are inside our house and inside at work!  Bruce enjoys hunting them (but he isn't too stealthy).  Hopefully this muggy breeding ground weather will fade fast.

This week Josh and I wrapped up the purchase of our wedding rings.  Josh opted to go with a wooden ring and I chose a ring from a local jeweler and was able to use the diamond from my grandmother's wedding ring.  We both can't wait to start wearing them!  We celebrated after purchasing the rings by having drinks at the martini bar and visiting a new store in Brighton that Josh has been wanting to check out for a while.  See below for a picture in the store.  I think it was very appropriate considering the various nerdy touches in our wedding.  Think they will loan that sign out for the wedding :) ?
